WELCOME
By way of background, Rossholme was, until July 2005, an independent
school for girls. The school had moved out here from Weston
super Mare in 1940 to take over the Vicarage in East Brent.
Sadly, the school was neither big enough nor wealthy enough to allow
it to expand sufficiently to compete in the 21st Century. It was
therefore forced to close after 117 years, although the Nursery*
for 3 and 4 year olds remains. Situated as it is, right in
the lee of Brent Knoll, Rossholme does, however, still provide an
idyllic location - perfect for quiet, peaceful painting and for
other activities within the buildings and grounds. We claim
a "micro-climate" here; when the wind is howling
in Burnham on Sea or up the Knoll or even at the other end of the
village, it is invariably calm in our little corner of Somerset!
Gerry, my husband, and I love living here with our two cats Ginger and Nutmeg and the rest of the wildlife
which surrounds us. It has been the perfect place to bring up our
own two children who are now in their late teens. Pat Payne,
our secretary, also loves working here. She keeps us all organised
and efficiently administers all courses and other events.
